stumped.

As a professional copywriter, the last thing you ever want to do when you get home from work is write. Well, I started this blog, remember? Smart, I know. And although I'm expected to provide you with the latest and greatest in home decor trends, I'm going to pass this first "assignment" on to you! Because honestly, I'm ready to get home, pop open a bottle of chard and turn on "Dance Moms." And don't judge me because you know you want to too.

As I'm getting ready to leave work yesterday, I get an email titled, "Sample Sale at Kichler Lighting!!!" with the following inside:

Floor lamps $20
Table top lamps $10
Small desk lamps $5

Do I need any lamps? No. Do I even have any open surfaces for which a lamp could fit? No. Even though it's cheap? No, just say no.

Needless to say, I come home with two lamps. One is a rustic looking, "boom arm lamp" which matches my existing Ralph Lauren lamp perfectly. The other left me feeling stumped... literally.

Love the base. Hate the shade. What to do?

First off, it was $10. Second, it's metallic. Third, it was $10! I couldn't pass it up, especially after I found out it retails for over $200. Only problem? It came with a hideous oval black shade with silver metallic, stenciled flowers... Yuck.

So, I'm asking for your advice. Should I replace the shade, paint the shade, recover the shade with fabric, or just give up and throw the stump in my back yard and call in lawn decor? Don't even get me started on lawn decor...

More pictures:

Much prettier than in the picture above. Very shiny metallic, silver.
